Eric Tripp

Board Advisor

After 32 years, Eric Tripp retired from BMO Financial Group in 2015. Following his appointment to President of the capital markets unit in 2008, he helped to lead its successful expansion through a volatile market environment and was responsible for the risk and balance sheet management in all the firm’s dealings with corporate, institutional and government clients. Eric also held previous senior positions with the bank’s equity treasury and trading products businesses. Prior to joining BMO Financial Group, he worked with the Fixed Income Derivatives Group at Burns Fry Ltd., a predecessor of BMO Capital Markets.

He holds a BA (Honours) in Economics from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. Eric is a past Chairman of the Canadian Derivatives Clearing Corporation (CDCC), former board member of the Toronto Futures Exchange and TSX Group and founder and executive sponsor of the BMO Capital Markets Diversity Council. Eric is currently Chairman of the board for the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation, and on the board of the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO). In 2012, Eric was the recipient of the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for community activity.
